The internship process does not always provide something new to learn, but the learning that has been obtained can be further explored through learning by doing which is carried out under the supervision of people who are already masters in their field. This learning is what is intended for batch 5 Certified Independent Study and Internship (MSIB) mentees at PT Inamas Sintesis Teknologi (INASTEK). Through MSIB at INASTEK, mentees are expected to be able to learn and explore the practical knowledge shared during the joint dynamics process.
Pitching is one of the activities included in the MSIB batch 5 mentee learning process at INASTEK. From the start of joining as part of INASTEK, the mentee was informed that pitching would be an internship learning agenda. Therefore, mentees from each project are required to create a pitch deck containing a concept design for activities, including goals, budget, and achievements, which they want to actualize during the internship.
However, based on a short survey conducted with 50 mentees, there were 30% of mentees who did not really understand the concept of pitching until pitching day arrived. One of the mentees is Shafa Dharma, PPIC Intern, UPN Veteran East Java student. "The first time I heard the pitch, I thought (the term) was intended as an introduction to the company and the project that would be carried out. "After explaining, pitching turns out to be an activity carried out to present plans during the internship and the need for their realization," explained Shafa, who had previously misunderstood the term pitching.
Meanwhile, unlike Shafa, who did not yet know the meaning of pitching, the mentee who held the Farming Application Engineer Intern position, Ahmad Nurul Azis, had already known pitching. The mentee with a non-business background was even able to explain this term, "Pitching is an activity that aims to explain the ideas or ideas that will be implemented. It is hoped that this presentation will receive feedback and criticism to increase the maturity of preparations in its implementation."
Exactly as Azis explained, the pitching activity was held last Monday (2/10/23). Involving panelists from the board of directors and mentors who have guided them in creating the pitch deck, the pitching day produces results in the form of responses and additions that can increase readiness for implementing the internship program plan. Through pitching, the mentee from each project learns the systematics of professional work which requires careful preparation, such as a pitch deck, to be able to actualize the designed agenda.
From Azis perspective, pitching day is not much different from his view. The pitching held has provided benefits in preparing a coherent program between various parties. This means that the mentee gets the opportunity to convey the project planned with the mentor to be implemented during the internship, then the panelists can provide input and criticism to improve the ideas presented. Thus, the prepared pitch deck can be better executed.
Certified Independent Study and Internship (MSIB) partners with INASTEK to provide opportunities for students to learn about the world of work, one of the practices that has been carried out is pitching.
In partnership with MSIB Kampus Merdeka, INASTEK held a pitching with 50 selected interns to explore the world of work.
